Our first litter

Kashers Star Bouviers are raised in our home.  They are born with me acting as mid-woof.  They live their first three weeks of life in a cozy upstairs  room, close to me as my room and my office are across the hall.  Every day presents opportunities for the little ones to interact with us.  When they begin to toddle and their eyes are open, they make regular visits to my office.  I introduce various small toys at this stage, including the small ‘tunnel’.

A form of soft gruel is given to the puppies as their first ‘semi-solid meal’

At four weeks, they move downstairs to a  room with the door leading out to the verandah.  The puppies are always eager to go out and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of the great outdoors!  Access to the rest of the house is readily available, which provides additional opportunities to socialize.  Care is given to the individual attention of each puppy and individual differences are noted.  As they grow we move off of the verandah on to the grass where the puppies will have many new experiences.

Group walks are taken to introduce various surfaces to the little ones; tall grass, stone, little logs to climb over. In warm weather, we include a baby wading pool as part of their new experience.  We have regular socialization visitation sessions to which we invite the new parents, friends, family, and anyone who would like to visit with our Bouvier family.  A wonderful time is always had by all.  These group sessions also provide a great benefit for the puppies to experience a wide variety of people.

Crate training has now begun, each of the puppies has their own crate in which to sleep, with Nana Mary by their sides of course.  There is usually a crate or two in their puppy pen for them to go in and out of at their leisure.

Our puppies with natural ears go home at about 8 weeks, pups with cropped ears stay with us until they are 9 to 10 weeks old.  We take care to place our puppies in homes where they will be cherished members of the family.

Our companion puppies are placed in approved homes on a Limited Registration from the AKC.  Show prospect puppies are placed on private contract.  Ears are natural or cropped.  Tails are docked, dews done. We accept a non-refundable deposit from approved homes to be on our waiting list for a puppy.

We are always happy to discuss if a Bouvier is the right choice for your family.
